Eventful Week
From the Supreme Courts to our neighbors up north, there’s been a lot of action this week.
Supreme Court in Illinois
The Gun Owners of America and the Gun Owners Foundation are challenging the Supreme Court in Illinois. They ask the courts to review the decision that the Protect Illinois Communities Act allows the state to ban assault weapons.
What constitutes an assault weapon? Here’s the wording from the 2022 bill:
A semi-automatic rifle that has a detachable magazine and one of a:
Pistol grip
Forward grip
Folding/telescoping/detachable stock
Grenade launcher
Barrel shroud; or
Threaded barrel
A semi-automatic rifle with a fixed ammunition feeding device that can accept more than 15 rounds
The ban is blatantly unconstitutional, and the gun groups are hoping the court will see that.
Canadaian Keys
Canadian police in Toronto urge citizens to leave their keys in easy access to criminals to avoid violence.
Constitutional Carry in Louisiana
Of course this is old news by now, but it is still important to cover. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signs constitutional carry law. This means that it is now legal to conceal carry without a permit in the state of Louisiana.
